DDTC Championship Show

11th July 2004. Judge: Mrs Jackie Shore (Swanwillow).

"Many thanks to exhibitors for a lovely entry. My main impressions were too many dogs had short, shallow ribcages, this is essential in a long bodied dog. This in turn affects the control of hind movement which in some was very loose and unco-ordinated. On the positive side coats were very good and mouths excellent with good big teeth."

Minor Puppy Dog1st: Russell's Hawkesmill Fergus
7 months, mustard. Up to size puppy who needs to fill his frame, very long body. Coat starting to show. Head proportions could be better, big teeth and kind eye, good topknot. Very unco-ordinated in movement needs time to muscle up. Happy temperament. Very raw and needs time to come together.

Puppy Dog1st: Hancock's Dawsholm Sonsie Sojer at Dunskey
Pepper, 10 months. Smart but workmanlike, good weasely shape. Domed head good stop, could be stronger in muzzle, although has good big teeth, dark eye. Good legs and feet. Showed and moved really well.

Junior Dog1st: Macbeth's Glahms Sterling Silver
Pepper, 13 months. Most impressive young dog, correctly proportioned head well domed good stop, strong jaw, big teeth, lovely eye and ear set. Well laid shoulder, flowing topline and correct tailset. Standing on lst class legs and round neat well padded feet.Covered in a quality double coat, crisp in texture. When he moves he is a picture, was pleased to award him the CC and eventually BIS.

Postgraduate Dog1st: Fisher's Dengold Captain Archer of Gypsywish
Mustard. Correct size, appealing head, strong jaw with big teeth. Correct topline and tailset. Big ribcage. Moved better in front than behind. Beautiful correct coloured and textured coat.
2nd: Skitt's Vistca Vertex at Hicker
Mustard Very long bodied dog. Large skull, could be wider in muzzle, big teeth, kind expression. Flowing topline and tailset. Rather flat open feet. Needs a new coat.

Limit Dog1st: Perry's Pogleswood Pole Position
Pepper, 14 months. Smart sound dog, Excellent topline and tailset, good ribs carried well back. Good lay of shoulder and standing on good legs and feet. Appealing head and expression although I would prefer his muzzle slightly shorter, good bite and big teeth. In good quality coat. Needs maturity to complete the overall picture. Showed very well.
2nd: McLeod's Healaval Usquebae
Mustard Good size, correct head proportions, good stop, big teeth. Not the flowing lines of 1, because of straighter shoulder, but balanced with good tailset. First class coat. Moved and showed very well.
3rd: Harpwood's Finloren Nicholas Nickleby
2 years, mustard. Lovely headed dog in correct proportions, big teeth, dark eye and fine ears. Excellent shoulders and straight front and neat round feet. Not the flowing topline of 1 and was very tense on the table, consequently movement was rather tucked up and not extending behind.

Quality mustard. Correct size, neatly put together. Excellent head properties, good stop, fine ears would like a larger eye. Good shoulder topline and tailset. Deep chest, ribbed well back. Coat rather blown. Moved soundly but without enthusiasm. In the challenge did better and was awarded the RCC.
2nd: Deacon's Cassencarrie Blithe Spirit
Pepper. Good coated dog. Weasel shaped body, deep chest, well ribbed back, Correct topline and tailset. Would like a more masculine head. Showed well although hind movement was a bit choppy today.
3rd: Jarvis's Ch. Mosterlada Golden Loon
Mustard. Good topline and tailset lovely deep mustard and crisp textured coat. Has slimmed down since I last judged him and looked very fit and moved soundly. Lovely huge head, deep muzzle and correct bite.

Graduate Bitch1st: Oakes & Searle's Brackenford Cameo
Pepper, of nice size. Appealing head and expression although could be stronger in muzzle, good ear set, strong neck and good lay of shoulder. Topline rather flat. Correct coat texture and good topknot. Showed well but moved wide in front.

Postgraduate Bitch1st: Fisher's Oaksleigh Maggie May of Gypsywish
Typical pepper in topline and tailset , neat front and feet. Pretty head in correct proportions, very feminine. In good coat and moved soundly. Would like more bone to complete the overall picture.
2nd: Oakes & Searle's Oakseal Zephyr
Mustard similar in size to 1, good length of body feminine head and outlook, strong jaw and big teeth. Not the shoulders of 1 and in rather soft muscular condition after a litter, rather weak hind movement, but showed well. Coming into new coat.

Limit Bitch1st: Tinsley's Cloverwood English Rose
She certainly is a mustard who takes your eye. Exquisite head unmistakenly feminine but powerful, in correct proportions well domed good stop good bite, large melting eye. Good lay of shoulders, well ribbed back typical topline and tailset. Moved very well on good legs and tight feet. Lost out today on the CC by too much undercoat around neck and shoulders which rather spoilt the profile making neck look stuffy. RCC.
2nd: Kerrush's Micklam Steel Bonnet
Pepper. Strong flexible body in hard condition, head in correct proportions but not as feminine as 1, dark eye, good bite well set ears. In good coat and moved well.
3rd: Heywood's Schalulleke Lizzy Weaver
Mustard I've always admired, however she didn't have the finish today. Coat is rich in colour and correct in texture. Good topline and tailset with ribs carried well back. Again not as feminine as 1 and skull not as domed. Good big teeth. Moved soundly but without enthusiasm.
